There is this new chic cafe in town, or rather right in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. I’m referring to LOKL Coffee Co. It is just next door to the boutique backpacker’s hostel, BackHome. Yes, that is the one which is owned by Ng Ping Ho, who is the man behind the once popular local English TV sitcom “Kopitiam“. To be exact, it is opposite the famous Restoran Santa House of Chapati along Jalan H. S. Lee.
LOKL Coffee cafe has opened to public since April, 19th, 2012, and its operation hours is from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
It is a wonderful place to get away from the heat, noise and smog of KL traffic. Its deco is nothing unique or new. The usual sparse interior decorated in a minimalist style. Nevertheless, this place is spicks and specks, cozy and the staff is friendly.
As for the food and drinks, it offers an interesting selection to choose from. It has set lunch of salad or soup with sandwich and desert. You should check out its homemade savory cakes, Hainanese meatloaf and its grilled veg sandwich.
For coffee lovers, LOKL Coffee Co. has both local and western brew. Though this new cafe is not Halal per se, but it doesn’t has pork and no lard (pig fat) is used in their food.
If you’re in town, check it out for yourself. If LOKL cafe is not your cup if tea, then maybe you would like to pop over to Arenaa Diner at the crossroads of Jalan Tun Perak and Jalan Hang Lekiu.
