In 1985, she filed a suit against Karang Kraf Sdn Bhd for defamation over articles that appeared in Bacaria (a defunct twice-a-week papers).
The veteran songstress claimed they were “false and were published maliciously” and as a result had subjected her to ridicule and contempt.
Then she obtained an injunction against the publisher from publishing alleged libel against her.
In the end, she lost the libel suit against Karang Kraf.
On Sept 12, 1988, the High Court declared Sharifah Aini a bankrupt over a debt of about RM104,002.83 owed to a construction company for renovation work to her bungalow in SS19, Subang Jaya.
Sharifah Noor said she regarded the singer as a disobedient and ungrateful daughter.
She revealed that the incident happened after she scolded Sharifah Aini because many people had came to collect debts while she was away.
Sharifah Noor was testifying at the hearing of the suit brought by her daughter against Karang Kraf.
Then on Aug 15, 2002, this Malay pop sensation was discharged as a bankrupt by the High Court.
Oct 14, 2004, Sharifah claimed that two thugs on a motorbike injected her with an unknown liquid when she was on her way to visit her relatives.
She was left lying in a ditch opposite TV3’s headquarters.
The doctors did not find anything wrong and the police failed to find corroborating evidence of the alleged incident.
They confirmed that the 15-minute footage from the close circuit television (CCTV) of the allegation did not reveal anything as she said.
It only showed images of Datuk Sharifah’s Mercedes Benz suddenly pulling to a stop.
As reported in the Harian Metro (November 9, 2004), Selangor police chief Datuk Fauzi Shaari even suggested the ‘incident’ may have been a figment of Ms Sharifah’s imagination.
Our beloved Malay diva was accused of fabricating the incident.
After the police reports came out, it was said that Sharifah stopped talking to the press.
As rumor had it that, at that time she was facing a defamation charge.
Some said that she made up this nasty incident to gain sympathy and also to divert her shameful defamation charge.
They said that she had “lost it” and was mentally ill.
Evergreen singer Datuk Sharifah Aini was charged in the Magistrate’s Court with defaming popular local singer Siti Nurhaliza Taruddin through e-mail.
It was reported that the mail contained derogatory statements about Siti Nurhaliza to her adopted brother, on Aug 24, 2004.
Strangely, this unpleasant incident was reported in Bernama, but now the link has being removed and replaced by the latest news story of her passing.

On December 1st, 2004, Datuk Sharifah Aini pleaded not guilty.
Interestingly, her lawyer is no other than the controversial lawyer Datuk Muhammad Shafee Abdullah.
Yes, the very same lawyer Shafee whose name is also linked to the notorious 1MDB scandal and Anwar Ibrahim on sodomy charges in 2014.
Anyway, on January 23, 2006, twice-divorced Sharifah was freed of this defamation case.
