We have read about a bra that can detect whether one is going to have a heart attack. Now it comes in a tiny medical implant chip. This minute chip which is placed beneath your skin can determine the status of your health. It is like a small personal blood testing laboratory inside your body.
This tiny medical implant with multiple sensors which is only about 14mm can detect the concentration of substances in your blood, was developed by a team led by EPFL scientists Giovanni de Micheli and Sandro Carrara at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne, Switzerland.
After the chip has analyzed your blood, then it transmits the results to a battery patch which is attached outside the body. This collected data from the patch will be transmitted via Bluetooth to a cell phone, which then sends them to the doctor over the cellular network. In a way, this small medical chip is a wireless blood test device.
According to this news report, this implant can detect a heart attack three of four hours before it happens.
