Criticize The Royalty: According to the former Perlis mufti Mohd Asri Zainul Abidin, disallowing any form of criticism against the royalty is akin to making them a god.
“If royalty cannot be disputed, this means the rakyat has deified them; this is because only God cannot be disputed by the people,” Mohd Asri Zainul says in his Malay language column on Malaysiakini. He added that even a prophet could be questioned.
Talking about criticism against the royalty, former Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin is being investigated under the Sedition Act for his alleged remarks over the Sultan of Johor’s successful bid for the car registration number WWW 1.
Remember the suspension of Professor Abdul Aziz Bari, of the International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM); about his publicly expressed opinion regarding the recent decree by the Sultan of Selangor over the controversial Jais raid on the Damansara Utama Methodist Church.
“No God and no religion can survive ridicule. No political church, no nobility, no royalty or other fraud, can face ridicule in a fair field, and live.” – Mark Twain
