Let’s talk about the controversial Ramadan and Hari Raya Adilfitri TV ads from TV3.
Remember the TV advertisements from Media Prima TV stations which were deemed inappropriate by many Malaysians.
Eventually the TV adverts were eventually taken off the air?
Controversial Ramadan And Hari Raya Adilfitri TV Ads
First there was this TV3 Hari Raya Adilfitri ad in 2010.
It features a Pakcik in a white Baju Melayu suite with a matching white songkok (cap).
He is flying around with his becha (trishaw) leaving trails of sprinkling stardust behind, ala Father Santa Claus with his sleigh zipping in the starry night sky.
Then there is this three-part overly-creative ideas for a Ramadan ad for 8TV in 2011.
It features a loud and obnoxious Chinese girl wearing sleeveless top, who over-acted; running, screaming, touching elderly Malay man, etc.
Well, I hope this year, Media Prima TV stations would not be carried away with the so-called creativity and ended up in another unnecessary controversy.
In fact, there are lots of simple, meaningful and relevant ideas with a local touch.
So remember, don’t get carried away….just like the flying trishaw, or run wild with ideas just like the kooky Chinese girl.
Anyway, Selamat berpuasa to all Muslims.
