Do you want to know the Dove Through Mirror Trick secret?
How does a live bird, a scarf, a magic wand or the magician’s arm could apparently go through the solid mirror in the window.
This penetration trick is similar to the Dove Through Glass Trick, which I have already revealed back in 2023.
The method of the trick is also different from the Pigeon Through Glass Trick.
Likewise I would explain how the penetration effect is done.
I would back up my explanation with relevant visuals and also the psychology behind this conjuring trick.
Welcome to another post from the Info Ruckus Magic Trick Secrets Revealed series.
Where I answer the popular question: how are magic tricks done?
How magic tricks work, or what is the secret behind magic tricks?
The magicians refer to it as the method; the secret technique uses to create the illusion of a magical effect.
Effect:
A round frame with multiple pieces of mirror and a window opening attached with a star trap.
Open the star trap to show the reflective mirror inside the window.
Placed the frame into an upright stand.
Now slip a live dove from behind the window frame, and magically it goes through it.
Open the star trap window to show the mirror is still right there.

Dove Through Mirror Trick Revealed
As I have mentioned above, the method of this mirror penetration trick is identical to the “Dove Through Glass Trick“.
The secrets are at the mirror frame and the upright stand.
Each time the magicians want to perform the trick, he has to place the round mirror frame onto the upright stand.
Similarly, when they want to show the window with a mirror piece inside, he has to lift up the frame from the stand.
Penetration Trick Gimmick Explained
For a start, the six surrounding mirrored holes are fixed onto the frame.
The middle square window has no mirror, only an empty hole.
When the magicians lift up the frame from the upright stand, you see a piece of mirror inside it.
So, where does this small piece of mirror come from?
As I do not own or have seen the actual prop, I do not know the precise gimmick design, measurements and specifications.
There is a sliding panel built inside the round frame magical apparatus.
It could look something like this:
This movable panel has a piece of mirror on top, together with a cut-out hole beneath it.
When they lift up the round frame, this gimmick panel slides down to its bottom section.
Hence, the mirror piece goes to the middle window, and the cut-out hole is concealed behind the bottom front mirror.
Behind this piece of movable mirror is also blue in color, to match the rest of the six bordering holes.
When they want to perform the Dove Through Mirror trick, they have to place the frame back onto the upright stand.
Beneath the round frame magical apparatus, there is an opening.
This is a close-up view of the opening underneath the frame, captured from the demo video.
Upright With Plexiglass Piece
Hidden between the upright slot, there is a vertical piece of clear plexiglass, as seen from JL Magic Korea video at 1:43 and 2:26.
It is a transparent piece that is why the viewers do not notice it, even though there is a round hole at the front of the upright.
When they insert the round frame into the upright slot, this vertical plexiglass piece goes into the bottom opening.
As a result, it pushes the gimmick panel upward.
Hence, the mirror piece is now behind the top section mirror.
The cut-out hole is now at the middle window, and it is blocked by the yellow star trap flap.
Now, the magicians can slip a live dove, a scarf, twisted balloon or even their arms through the middle window.
As I have aforementioned, I do not know the prop design measurements and specifications.
At two instances in the Korean demo video, I noticed the edge of the mirror was seen at the bottom of the window.
It could be because the round frame is not properly placed onto the upright stand.
Basically this how the Dove Through Mirror Trick is done by shifting the hidden mirror and a cut-out hole gimmick.
Dove Through Mirror Trick Psychology
Again the psychology of this penetration effect is perceptual illusion.
Perceptual illusions happen when your perception of the world is different with the reality.
This happens is because the way your brain processes the visual data you transmit to your brain.
As for this case, the reality is the dove cannot go through a solid piece of mirror.
But you see the magicians slip it right through before your eyes.
If you do not know the method of the trick, your perception will be at odd with the reality.
Then the penetration illusion of the Dove Through Mirror Trick appears magical to you.
